People who inspired the characters of Made in Nirvana. Dressing up (who is the one in the middle?) and having fun together despite the language barrier - English from me and local Himalayan dialect from the girls - no problem at all! ;-) Humanity knows n
Part of my amazing family in the Himalayas. The father - pitaji- smoking his hubbly bubbly with the carpenter (and high priest of the moon), the beautiful young daughter and the very old, highly respected, grandmother. Forty years ago! more or less ;-)

A watercolour by Marinella Rotini. 73 years young, one eye affected by cataract, has only just recently taken up painting again, after decades of inactivity. The power of encouragement. In just 3 hours she produced this: my first portrait. I love it!

To celebrate the first birthday of Made in Nirvana in Italian (6th August 2015), I'd like to share one of the many 5 star reviews and a photo I took during my stay in a small village in the mountains of the Himalayas. The quality is so-so, but you can see a woman carrying a bundle of hay bigger than she is, and smiling at the camera!

"Made in Nirvana is a beautiful Book. It is utterly ‘charming' in all various meaning of this word. Magical, Poetic, and deeply Moving. The characters are friends we come to know, feel for, identify with.
India’s verdant beauty - vivid colours, sounds, smells, tastes. Realisation and respect for humanity awoken by those with ‘materially so little’ yet who share appreciation of ‘true treasures within -
The central protagonist, Maria’s search for herself, drives the narrative. We travel by train, bus, rickshaw, boat, plane, taxi, feet! From city to mountains to Jungle. Country to country. Maria’s delightful appetite for fun and her honest desire to make heart to heart connections with everyone she meets, brings a beautiful innocence alive. Maria's story emerges alongside the Rivers. Rivers and water bring Maria to the source of people and LIFE itself.
Our visitor’s vulnerabilities weave truthful tales of fears, drugs, misunderstandings, projections, friendships, betrayal, love and courage. If anyone wants to understand modern Buddhist philosophy and practise through the experiences of real people, living and breathing concepts into reality - this book brings the Heart of Buddhism alive with vivacity through stories of personal revelation and socratic dialogue.
I think Made In Nirvana is a Healing Book. I travelled to exquisite and challenging places. Inside and out. The writing is so vivid - the images imprinted in my memory like sensorial paintings.
Finally, I came to a place of rest. A good place in my self. One of Hope.
Thankyou so much Emanuella Cooper

Born in Treviso on the 18th November 1953, Emanuela Cooper studies foreign languages at the College for Tourism in Venice and later Political Science at Padua University. Following a rather extreme existential crisis, towards the end of the 70s, she decides to travel to India ‘to have a look’ and, with any luck, find herself. Made in Nirvana is inspired by the first two trips to India, where Emanuela Cooper returns many times, living there for six years. A big part of the story of Made in Nirvana is based on her personal experience, while the other part is fruit of her vivid imagination. What may appear as invented has probably really happened, and vice versa!
