The train left Varanasi and soon it was running through the open countryside. Maria wiped her tears, her heart ached, full of all the love she had given and received and that had changed her. "How are you?" she asked Franca. They hadn't been alone for a long week.
"So so." What did 'so so' mean? Franca opened up, like a dam that can no longer withstand the pressure of the water. She had felt alone, and seeing the two of them so much in love had made her feel that something was missing. She liked Michel, but he hadn't noticed................................

He knelt on the ground; with a look at Franca he asked permission to raise her pyjama leg and glanced at the infections. Without a word, he opened his case and pulled out bandages, a bottle and a knife with a retractable blade...........................
