Franca had received her letter telling her of the backpack's disappearance; she was very sorry, she wrote, with all those beautiful things she had bought! I bet you're sorry, thought Maria, her anger mounting inside, uncontrollable; if Franca had been there she would have hit her...................

Again, Sanya had hit the mark; Maria had never had a high opinion of herself. She laughed, thinking about what her father, her grandmother and her sisters used to say. "Not much," she replied. "At home they always used to say that I was the third wheel, so I grew up thinking I wasn't important. They pointed it out to me all the time; but it's not a problem, I've become stronger."
"To think that you are strong is one thing, another is to have no self-esteem," Sanya replied promptly. "You must reflect on this Maria, you are important, we all are. And you have the right to be happy. Decide to be happy." ......
