From Under the Ibiza sky - by Emanuela Cooper
The first excursion began at Salinas, a mile-long beach near the airport. The water was crystal clear, the sand fine and white, and the shoreline was lined with Sabina trees for almost its entire length. The Sabina was a typical island tree with an extremely hard and twisted trunk, ideal for building the roofs of houses, Ted explained. During the day the beach was busy with quite a few people; in the sea some sailboats and a few surfboards. Towards evening the people left, and everything became quiet. While Dad and Grandpa pitched the tent in the shelter of the trees, Ted and I went hunting for fallen branches to make a bonfire. The twins also helped us. Luna toddled next to me full of enthusiasm, while Stella accompanied Ted and tended to lag behind, but she too picked up a few twigs and was proud of herself. Mum placed blankets inside the tent to soften the ground, and mats outside. |
